Mariah the Mama? Not so fast, baby bump watchers! Mariah Carey‘s rep told US Weekly that the she is “not pregnant”, despite all the buzz surrounding a recent picture of the singer.
Carey, 40, and her husband of nearly two years, Nick Cannon, 29, have talked about starting a family in the past. In fact, in January Cannon told MTV News, “We absolutely plan to have a family. But we gotta prioritize, because that’s a major, major priority. That’s like the only priority in life, when you think about it, is starting and raising a family. We wanna make sure everything is out of the way and that we don’t have any distractions.”
Carey shared the same sentiment when she stopped by to talk to Larry King on his show in Nov. 2009. “I cannot do the having-a-child thing halfway,” she said. “I wouldn’t be just like, ‘Oh, I’m having a child, yay! Let me get a nanny so I can give her the baby. Take the kid.’ That doesn’t work me. I don’t believe in that.”
