G. Fresh was born James Sims in Indianapolis, Indiana on the westside of town known as Haughville. Raised in the projects, father incarcerated most of his life, he became self supportive in his youth, turning to the streets. Just doing what was needed to be done to make moves he got introduced to sports. This would have an affect on him for life.
“The discipline and drive I picked up through sports molded me into the businessman I’ve grown to be now,” said G. Fresh.
After graduating from Ben Davis High School, G. Fresh later attended the historically black college Albany State University in Albany, Georgia. He later came back to Indiana to attend IUPUI ( Indiana University and Purdue University of Indianapolis).
Feeling he could make more money if applying himself to his entrepreneurial efforts, he dropped out of college. “If it didn’t work I was going to go back to college. Either way, I was determined to be self made,” explained G. Fresh.
At the age of 22 , he started his own successful construction company. Later, I purchased a franchise and full service salon. Music was not far behind with the launch of Munki Boi Entertainment.
“I was raised in music and it runs in my family. I moved to Houston in 2005 and met a lot of rappers and built a lot of relationships,” said G. Fresh.
Currently, G. Fresh has two singles playing in mix shows and clubs in several parts of the country. “On My Momma” is the for the streets banger and “iHustle” featuring OJ da Juiceman is an ode to the day to day grind that got him to where he is now.
“Everyone can relate to iHustle, because everyone hustles in some way. Some people hustle in the streets, some hustle on their job, I hustle music. I hustle Munki Boi Entertainment,” said G. Fresh.
