“Milkshake” singer Kelis and “Hip Hop is Dead” rapper Nas can now tell people that they are officially single. TMZ has reported that the legal documents that finalized their divorce were filed last Friday, in Los Angeles County Superior Court.
However, despite their marriage – which lasted almost seven years – being over, the drama between them is not, according to a nydailynews.com report by Kristie Cavanagh. There appears to be issues between the two that have still not been resolved.
The two have been battling over child custody and spousal support ever since Kelis, who was seven months pregnant with their son at the time, filed for the divorce in April of 2009. The singer cited “irreconcilable differences” for the divorce.
Back in July 2009, a Los Angeles court ordered Nas to pay $44,000 a month in spousal and child support. Then several months later, a judge is said to have increased the payments to $51,101 a month. But the rapper now claims he can’t afford the payments.
