Monday Marked another night of hip-hop history in the form of the VH-1 annual program titled “Hip-Hop Honors”. This year’s event hosted by rising black comedian Craig Robinson paid homage to the “Dirty South”.  The program acknowledged and paid respects to pioneers Jermaine Dupri, Miami, Atlanta and Master P. Luther “Uncle Luke” Campbell also performed on the South’s night of recognition.

Now for the disappointments and “Huuh?” of the night.

Timbaland was recognized for production. Im REFUSE to hate on Timbo The King. I will even go on record as saying he is one of the more under appreciated producers of music in general. However, he is from Virginia. DJ Paul and Juicy J, Mannie Fresh, the Dungeon Family Producers and DJ Premier should have been recognized. For those that need a history lesson on Premo He is from Texas along with 9th Wonder originally. If it is truly about the south movement and recognition, I feel the above deserve mention over Timbaland.

No Scarface and No Geto Boys…They weren’t even in the building! It was said that Scarface didn’t appear because he considered himself an overall legend of the game and not just in the South. You got to understand and respect that.

No DJ Screw Tribute: Considering how Houston took over for about 2 summers and EVERY RAPPER had a screwed mix or album I figured that was a no brainer! R.I.P to Screw

No Kriss Kross: Bow Wow represented but it would have been good to see them on stage for nostalgia purposes

No Trick Daddy Tribute: I feel he is the Second most important artist out of Florida.

Highlights:

Asher Roth look like he hasn’t made a dime, but he killed Luda’s verse

Mystikal let us know he back and he still got it! Check out the link below to view his performance as part of Master P’s Tribute!

And my final Highlight: Even in his 40’s Luke can still find some thick chicks to work it out! Add that with Trick Daddy peeling a stack on each chick individually and you got a show set made for HBO after 9:30pm!

CAP-D COMIN! CAP-D COMIN! CAP-D COMIN! CAP-D COMIN!

How did you feel about the show? Was the south done right? What did you expect to see?
