If one producer gets his way, Angelina Jolie will be the next big screen Cleopatra.  “USA Today” says film producer Scott Rudin has purchased the rights to the upcoming biography “Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra: A Life,” with sights set on Jolie to play the legendary Egyptian ruler.  The book’s author Stacy Schiff thinks Jolie will be a good fit.  She says, quote, “Physically, she’s the perfect look.”  Schiff also thinks Jolie’s real-life partner Brad Pitt would make a great Mark Antony, Cleopatra’s equally legendary lover.  Her book, “Queen of the Nile, Cleopatra: A Life,” is due out in November.

Should Scott Rudin’s film plans fall in place, Jolie will join the ranks of another Hollywood icon in playing Cleopatra on film.  Elizabeth Taylor famously portrayed the Queen of the Nile in the 1963 film “Cleopatra,” with her real-life love Richard Burton as Mark Antony.  The film won four Academy Awards.
