Police are in pursuit of a gang of robbers who made off with $3,200 in cash and $5,700 in prescription drugs after holding up a Nora-area Walgreens in a coordinated early morning heist. The robbery was at 4 a.m. at 1505 E. 86th St. when at least three men wearing masks and gloves entered the Walgreens, according to an Indianapolis Metro police report. In the report it was also stated that one of the men pointed a gun at an employee who came to the front door to greet them. He led the employee to a back office and told him to open the safe. The employee summoned another worker to unlock it and hand over the cash.

At the same time, or shortly after, a bandit with a gun jumped over the pharmacy counter in the back, “Hey,” he told the pharmacist, according to the report. “Get the stuff” and “don’t push any buttons.” The pharmacist opened a safe that stored oxycodone and other painkillers and put about 4,000 pills into a bag. The robber then told all the employees to lie on the ground until they left. The employees said one of the robbers was wearing what appeared to be a homemade mask, with the eye slits cut out.

As an ex retail manager for Walgreens I can tell you personally that nothing in these stores is worth your life! Always do what a thief or robber ask and get them out of there as quick as possible! Pills and money are manufactured, but there is no guarantee you will be here tomorrow.
