Chris Brown’s emotional tribute to Michael Jackson during Sunday’s BET Awards was appreciated by at least one member of the Jackson family.  Jermaine Jackson spoke with MTV News and admitted that he too experienced a lot of emotions during Brown’s performance.  He states, quote, “To see [Chris’] performance, it was very emotional for me, because it was an acceptance from his fans from what happened to him and also paying tribute to my brother.  It was just a spectacular moment.”  Not everyone shares Jermaine’s opinion, as some fans have wondered why a convicted felon was chosen to honor the King of Pop.  Jermaine Jackson says he was ok with Brown performing his brother’s tribute, noting that it was probably therapeutic for the controversial pop singer.  Jackson adds, quote, “He deserves to perform, because it’s healing for him.  How can he learn from his mistakes if you don’t give him a chance?  He needs that.”

Chris Brown’s tribute performance featured a dance routine set to Michael Jackson’s hits “Billie Jean,” “Remember The Time,” and “Smooth Criminal.”  Brown was unable to fight off tears, however, when he tried to sing Jackson’s “Man in the Mirror.”  Chris Brown is currently serving five years on probation for assaulting his ex-girlfriend Rihanna in February of 2009.
