MTV seems to be ready to move on and let Kanye West participate in this year’s Video Music Awards, but the public apparently isn’t quite so willing to forgive and forget.  Nearly 90-percent of respondents in an ongoing AccessHollywood.com poll say they don’t think the rapper should be allowed to perform at the upcoming VMA ceremony, in light of his incident with Taylor Swift last year.  Only eleven-percent support West’s appearance on the show.  Kanye made headlines at the 2009 VMAs when he stormed the stage following the presentation of the Best Female Video Award to Swift.  He took the microphone from the country starlet to proclaim that pop star Beyonce should have won.  In the weeks that followed, Kanye was heavily criticized for his behavior, and subsequently removed himself from the public eye.  He has only recently returned to the spotlight.

Swift is once again a nominee heading into this year’s VMAs, and she’s expected to attend the ceremony.  The 2010 MTV Video Music Awards will air live from Los Angeles on September 12th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
