Comedienne and TV personality Chelsea Handler has signed on to host the MTV Video Music Awards next month. She made the announcement on the Wednesday night episode of her late-night talk show, “Chelsea Lately.” Handler says, quote, “Everyone knows that when you think of rap music and hip-hop you think of ‘Chelsea Lately.’ And that’s why I will be hosting.”
The funny lady becomes only the second female host of the VMAs since 1994 — when comedienne Roseanne Barr was at the helm.
Performers announced for the show so far include Kanye West, B.o.B., Justin Bieber, and Florence and the Machine. Ne-Yo, Ashley Greene, Nicki Minaj, and Ke$ha will be some of the evening’s presenters. The MTV Video Music Awards will air live from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles, California on September 12th at 9:00 p.m. Eastern.
Seems Pharrell likes Chelsea too.
