Hip-hop diva Queen Latifah is joining forces with country music legend Dolly Parton for a new film called “Joyful Noise.”  TheHollywoodReporter.com says the big-screen project will revolve around two women who team up to save a church choir.  Latifah will play a mom who inherits choir-directing duties after the gospel choir’s director passes away.  Parton will play the late director’s widow who wishes she had taken over the job.  Writer-director Todd Graff will be at the helm of the film.  He is best known for his work on the movie “Bandslam.”

Queen Latifah was last seen in the movie “Just Wright,” with fellow rapper Common earlier this year.  Parton’s film roles include the movies “Nine To Five,” “The Best Little Whorehouse in Texas” and “Steel Magnolias.”
