I happened to be in Jamaica for a concert when the news came out that Aaliyah had died in a plane crash. No one believed the news. Everyone thought it had been a rumor just as the other rumors that people make up about celebrities dying. The news became reality however when Missy Elliot was set to perform at the concert and could not go on stage. When I got back to NYC, where I had lived at the time, my boyfriend and I lit candles for her and watched all of the specials on TV concerning her death. It was so unreal. I couldn’t believe that this had happened to someone whom I just interviewed a week or two prior. She was such a sweet person. The day of our interview we compared whose tummy was the flattest! LOL! She won! Even now, 9 years later she is still deeply missed. Artists have come and gone who have tried to relicate her talent but failed. Aaliyah was the last person that I interviewed on the radio before leaving New York city.  So for me she is even more special. She is truly…One in a Million.
