Chris Brown is receiving high marks from the judge in his assault case.  The R&B star was in a Los Angeles courtroom on Thursday, where he took part in a progress report hearing.  Judge Patricia M. Schnegg told the singer he’s doing well on probation, adding, quote, “You’re doing a great job.”

Chris Brown was arrested in February of 2009 after he assaulted his then-girlfriend Rihanna following a pre-Grammy Awards party.  Brown pleaded guilty to assault the following June, and last August he was sentenced to five years of probation and 180 days of community labor.  The vocalist was also ordered to attend domestic violence classes and remain at least 50 yards away from Rihanna.

Chris Brown is due back in court for another progress report hearing on November 18th.
