Suge Knight’s $1 million lawsuitagainst Kanye West is likely to go to trial, says his attorney, after a second failed mediation between the two on Thursday (August 26) in Miami.

According to reports, Knight and his attorney Marc Brumer met with Kanye’s counsel, with ‘Ye checking in by phone, on Thursday in an effort to try to reach an agreement, but couldn’t come to terms on a settlement. So now, Brumer says the case is likely to go to trial.

Knight is seeking more than $1 million in damages from West and the owners of the Shore Club in Miami, for a 2005 nightclub incident where he was shot in the leg. It happened during a pre-VMAs party, which Kanye hosted, so Knight has blamed both the club and Kanye for lax security, resulting in his injuries.

The damages he seeks are to cover his medical expenses — over $200,000, which includes treatment, ambulance costs, and the costs of a private jet to transport him from Miami to Los Angeles — and the loss of a 15-carat diamond stud earring worth $135,000.

To date, a shooter has never been identified, and the case is unsolved.

Both Knight and West met in New York back in Juneto try to solve the matter outta court, but were unable to reach an agreement then. They met for more than six hours, in which Brumer said West didn’t say a word.

“He basically put his hands over his head and didn’t say anything for six hours,” Knight’s lawyer said. “He evidently doesn’t know anything about anything, despite the fact that he hosted the party.”

At press time, a trial date was unknown.
