Dr. Dre is hoping to give hip-hop fans everywhere a long-awaited gift this holiday season.  Rap-Up.com is reporting that the legendary emcee would like to have his highly-anticipated “Detox” album in stores by Christmas.  He states, quote, “In a perfect world, you know I’m really trying to make Christmas, but we’ll see.  Something will definitely be out.”  Dr. Dre says he’s been working on the record everyday, noting that he’s dedicated to not disappointing fans.  Interscope chairman Jimmy Iovine says they support Dr. Dre “one-thousand percent,” but jokes that they don’t expect the record in stores anytime soon.  He states, quote, “I feel that if it comes down to it, Dre will move Christmas.”  Iovine did say that he’s heard two new tracks from Dr. Dre, adding that they are, quote, “just incredible.”

Dr. Dre’s “Detox” album has been in the works for the better part of a decade.  The record will be Dre’s follow-up to 1999’s “2001,” which has sold more than seven-million copies in the United States.
