The New Jersey native who gave voice to the popular “Dora the Explorer” cartoon character has filed suit against the producers of the cartoon, saying she was exploited and ripped off for millions of dollars.  Fourteen-year-old Caitlin Sanchez of Fairfield, New Jersey, became the voice of the kid-friendly Latina character Dora in 2007 when she was 12, and was promised over five-thousand-dollars an episode, along with compensation from residuals and merchandising.  Her lawsuit claims Caitlin and her parents were duped into signing a complicated contract that cheated them out of millions of dollars, and that when Sanchez tried to work out a resolution, Nickelodeon and Viacom officials balked, and then threatened to fire her if she complained about the pay.  The lawsuit also claims she was threatened to sign the initial contract quickly or she would be passed over for the role.  Caitlin says in addition to not being compensated for hundreds of hours of recording sessions, she was forced to fly around the country to promote the show with a “meager travel stipend of 40 dollars a day.”  Viacom officials say the lawsuit is without merit.
